Description We have an opening for a Journeyman or well-qualified Apprentice Mechanic at the Big Stone Power Plant located near Milbank, SD. Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and two years of formal technical training in a related technical field, or at least five years documented mechanical maintenance work experience. Must be physically fit, mentally alert, able to work indoors or outdoors in all weather, work in confined spaces and at height, wear a respirator and other PPE, and hold a valid driver’s license. Most desirable qualifications include proficient in welding, and machine tool techniques; experience troubleshooting and repairing pumps, drives, and other industrial equipment; able to read, understand and interpret technical instruction books and drawings; understand precision alignment and vibration analysis; basic computer skills; and basic knowledge of metallurgy.
