Description The successful applicant will be responsible for the Cheese production activities on the Make Room Floor performed during the shift worked. This is an important key process function, critical to the success of the Cheese Plant operations. A conscientious person capable of responding to multiple activities is required. Equipment operation tasks primarily involve the Cheese Vat operation. Other job duties include coordination of milk pasteurization to vat, Starter production/usage, and boiler function as necessary. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Operate Cheesemaking Equipment 2. Perform/Record necessary tests at required intervals 3. Monitor Equipment operations & CIP functions 4. Make necessary Cheese Make operation/process decisions relevant to good vat operation and best possible yield and quality potential 5. Coordinate product movement through Make Floor Operations 6. DMC Monitoring 7. This position must follow all GMP, safety, and other plant policies and procedures at all times 8. REQUIRED COMPETENCIES: The following are required competencies of the position that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job: * Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills * Ability to adapt effectively within a continually changing and demanding environment * Demonstrate an understanding of the products manufactured and the processes involved * Basic understanding of equipment operations and minor troubleshooting ability * Must be able to demonstrate an ability and willingness to communicate effectively in order to maintain high levels of Safety, Quality and Efficiency * Ability to read and comprehend standard operating procedures and company guidelines in order to maintain regulatory compliance * Ability to understand daily production needs * Participation in a team environment safely * Detail oriented, be quality minded * Able to perform at a high level in a fast paced environment EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: * High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) * Food manufacturing, material handling and forklift operation experience preferred * Must be able to maintain a valid forklift operator license * Prior experience in the dairy or cheese industry is preferred * Prior experience in manufacturing is a plus * Knowledge of HACCP, GMP's, OSHA and loss control programs is highly desirable * Cheesemaker and Pasteurizer license required: * Previous Cheese Make Floor, Starter Production, or HTST Operation preferred PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS: The employee should have the ability to regularly lift up to 50lbs. The employee must be able to push and pull up to 75lbs.Occasionally must be able to climb ladders and work at elevations of 6 feet. The mental and physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is regularly exposed to high noise environments. The employee is regularly exposed to temperature conditions in excess of 100*F. The employee will regularly be exposed to chemicals used in the process.
