Mission Sunday

Mission Sunday is held annually the second Sunday in July.  Our worship service begins at 10:30am with a guest pastor each year.  The Dakota Ascension Choirs sings several Dakota hymns, and the entire congregation sings the “Dakota Hymn Lac qui Parle” also known as “Many and Great Oh God Are Thy Things”.  A potluck picnic is held near the Lac qui Parle dam area and an afternoon program highlighting the Dakota or Missionaries begins at 1pm.  Mission Sunday celebrates the Christian faith and heritage of the Dakota and Missionary descendants.  No admission required.  However, a free will offering is taken to help defray the travel costs for the Dakota Choir.
