Quietly Beautiful - Wildly Connected

City of Canby

The Gateway to the Prairie, Canby is the westernmost city in Yellow Medicine County. It sits in the center of a broad-flat valley from which can be seen the Coteaux des Prairies in South Dakota. Canby is located at the junction of U.S. Highway 75 (The King of Trails) and State Highway 68. Canby invites you to visit their community and take advantage of all they have to offer.

If you are looking for quality of life, this is the place! In Canby, you’ll find excellent schools: elementary, high school, private and technical college; a quality health care system: hospital, nursing home, assisted living facilities, wellness center; inviting churches; and an abundance of recreational and leisure activities: hunting, fishing, golf, disc golf, shooting sports, swimming pool, bowling, movies, camping, sports and activities.

Stone Hill Regional Park

Stone Hill Regional Park on Del Clark Lake is a great place for your next get-away! This campground offers a great sandy beach area, modern showers and restrooms, playground, picnic area and shelter, volleyball and basketball court, and more. Lund Hoel House Museum

Tabbed as the “49 Day” House, the Lund Hoel House Museum is truly an American-Victorian architecture wonder. Built in 1891 – in just 49 days by John Lund of Lund’s Land Agency – the house has been the talk of the town with its frequent upgrades shortly after it was built, including a gas plant to light the house at night.

Yellow Medicine County Fair

Canby is home to the Yellow Medicine County Fairgrounds! Every year on the third weekend in July, people come from near and far to have fun at the county fair! Enjoy grandstand events, food vendors, and entertainment! Catch a 4-H show or walk through the barns to see cattle, sheep, pigs, goats, and more.
