Granite Area Arts Council Annual Show – Monroe Crossing

February 7, 2015 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Monroe-Crossing-2012_cropLocal favorite, Jerry Ostensoe will open for the Winter Fest Concert at Yellow Medicine East High School Auditorium with nationally touring Monroe Crossing on Saturday, February 7th at 6:30pm.

Ostensoe grew up in the showdown of the gentle hills that grace the Minnesota/South Dakota boarder, just east of where the west begins.  As a life-time resident of southwestern Minnesota, he has sung about the prairie and it’s people for over 40 years.

Jerry has developed an engaging musical style that blends the blues, country and folk music into a rich, fertile ground where stories grow.  With a voice that’s true to the region, he sings about trains, love, the wind and what’s just over the hill.

He continues to write songs with a sincerity and passion that comes with knowing a place well.  His country blues style provides a solid foundation for his inspired lyrics.  Together they beckon like the lonesome whistle of a freight train just beyond some distant hill.

This event is part of the week-long winter celebration in Granite Falls and is sponsored by Granite Area Arts Council with support from the City of Granite Falls.  Tickets are on sale now at the K.K. Berge Building and Thrifty Drug in downtown Granite Falls. Early Bird Tickets are available through January at $12 for adults and $6 for students and beginning February 1st, $15 for adults and $8 for students.

This concert is a collaboration of many – the Granite Area Arts Council received support from the City of Granite Falls, YME Community Education and by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Southwest Minnesota Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.

If you are a senior and would like to ride the Heartland Express to the concert please call Kayla at 320-564-3011 ext. 113 to reserve your seat by February 5th.
