Some examples of work for this position are listed below but not limited to the following: + Assist in determining and documenting to what extend a proposed project will affect social, economic, and environmental attributes of the project's location in compliance with MnDOT's Highway Project Development Process (HPDP) and NEPA, including completing required NEPA documentation. + Assist in coordinating with the Office of Environmental Stewardship related to NEPA documentation. + Assist in completing and coordinating Early Notification Memos (ENMs), ENM responses, and environmental documents, such as CATEXs, in order for projects to meet NEPA requirements and to be let on time. + Assist in completing Environmental Scoping for projects. Performs basic/routine technical computer aided drafting and designing (CADD) in accordance with CADD data standards to meet deadlines. + Assists in preparing preliminary design reports in accordance with environmental standards to meet deadlines. + Uses and maintains project information in an efficient manner so that information is readily available for layout preparation and other uses. + Conducts background research on assigned issues. + Assists in reviewing internal design plans by doing simple computations sufficient to ensure they conform to the NEPA process. + Assists in obtaining highway construction permits from other agencies sufficient to ensure they are obtained in a timely manner prior to bid letting. **Minimum Qualifications** One year of experience utilizing computer-aided drafting and designing (CADD) or performing related activities. OR Note: A Two year Civil or Construction Technology Degree or the following four year degrees: Architectural, Civil or Mechanical Engineering; Land Surveying / Geomatics; or equivalent may substitute for one year of experience. (In order for education coursework to be considered in lieu of work experience you must submit a copy of your transcripts). AND Working knowledge of English sufficient to read, write, speak and understand oral and written information; communicate with employees and the general public in-person or via two-way radio and other electronic devices; and to maintain routine written logs and simple records. A valid MN Class “D” Driver’s license **Preferred Qualifications** + Previous MnDOT experience working as a Laborer, Transportation Associate or Transportation Generalist. **Physical Requirements** A pre-placement physical examination is required for this position. Current employees who have successfully bid or are moving into specific jobclassifications will be required to complete the pre-employment physical exam.
