This position exists to perform data management and quality assurance activities related to PER and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS). The incumbent will identify and gather PFAS data and work with program coordinators and database administrator to establish data into an agency wide data system. They will then assist researchers and regulatory program staff by teaching them about data quality objectives (DQOs), writing Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPPs), Sampling and Analysis Plans (SAPs), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), reviewing those created by others, and providing data quality training. As such, the incumbent must have an understanding of QAPPS, SOPs, SAPs, and DQOs. The incumbent works closely with MPCA program coordinators and state regulators in performance of duties and therefore maintains working relationships with these parties. The incumbent will recognize and communicate the importance of transparency, data quality and data interpretation to ensure successful implementation of the program goals and its related efforts and progress towards meeting the agency‘s environmental objectives. **Minimum Qualifications** Bachelor‘s degree in an Environmental Science or other Natural Science; Statistics, Chemistry, or other related degree with two (2) years of demonstrated experience conducting data analysis, data quality reviews, database management, and the use of data science tools and quality assurance plans; OR A Master’s degree in an in an Environmental Science or other Natural Science; Statistics, Chemistry, or other related degree with one (1) year of demonstrated experience conducting data analysis, data quality reviews, database management, and the use of data science tools and quality assurance plans; Candidates must have the ability to collaborate with partners effectively and possess good communications skills to present technical environmental information to a wide range of business partners. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. **Preferred Qualifications** Advanced experience with environmental chemistry techniques and procedures to make recommendations for methods, detection limits, assess quality assurance, and report finding that meet data quality objectives. A clear understanding of QAPPS (Quality Assurance Project Plans), SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), SAPs (Sampling and Analysis Plans), and DQOs (Data Quality Procedures) to ensure data submittals meet proper quality assurance approaches and procedures. Ability to work closely with program staff, data managers, and researchers to develop data management practices. Demonstrated expertise in working with relational databases; validating data, making technical assessments, sound technical recommendations, and report writing. Experience with analytical tools such as database, statistical, visualization software such as Excel, SQL, R, Python, Tableau and ArcGIS. Ability to work effectively with others and coordinate with individuals involved in diverse environmental programs and research and to establish and maintain productive and open communications with business partners and other staff members. Ability to critically review, document, and summarize information and data into comprehensive recommendations, reports, and presentations.
