This position exists to support the Minnesota GreenStep Cities & Tribal Nations Program by working with other state agencies and not-for-profit partners, as a means to increase the implementation of community-based environmental and sustainability actions. Additionally, this position conducts technical and policy research, works with and promotes statewide environmental assistance programs, administers grants, coordinates training events, and maintains communications with local and tribal governments and related affected parties to increase voluntary environmental actions and outcomes throughout Minnesota. **Minimum Qualifications** Bachelor's degree in a field of study related to environmental protection, sustainability, climate change, public policy, a similar scientific area and one year of related professional experience OR Two years of professional experience in environmental protection, sustainability, climate change, public policy, a similar area. Ability to: Communicate effectively. Make decisions on complex and controversial issues related to day-to-day program operations. Translate technical information, rules and regulations to language understandable by a non-technical audience. Maintain confidential or restricted information. Drivers License (See additional Requirements) The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency will not sponsor applicants for work visas. Demonstrated understanding of broad climate change mitigation and climate adaptation and resilience concepts, issues, approaches, and policies Experience working with or for local, Tribal, and/or regional governments. Experience developing content for and/or managing websites, newsletters and/or guides that describe best practices. Ability to understand, analyze, and communicate related data. Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with representatives of government agencies, partner organizations, and the general public. Effective public presentation skills; ability to write technical reports and effectively communicate technical concepts in person and in writing. Ability to work with diverse communities. **Physical Requirements** Requires occasionally moving such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others and/or moving light objects frequently. A job is in this category may require maintaining a stationary position to a significant degree or may involve a certain amount of moving necessary in carrying out job duties. **Additional Requirements** A driver’s license is an essential function of this position. This requires possession of an unrestricted Class D Driver’s License. The job offer is contingent on confirmation of a valid driver’s license AND a satisfactory DLR check. Requires a Class D driver´s License: a single unit vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of less than 26,000 pounds. This is a basic driver’s license. Operators may also tow vehicles/trailers as long as the gross combination weight does not exceed 26,000 pounds.
