This position supervises and provides training and guidance to all Driver Services staff involved in providing examination and application services within the region designated and manages the regional day-to-day operations. **Minimum Qualifications** + One year of supervisory experience and must have experience in the examination and/or licensing of Minnesota drivers; OR three years of experience in the examination and/or licensing of Minnesota drivers at least two of which involve administering driving examinations and/or inspections of motor vehicle dealerships and salvage vehicles. + Ability to communicate effectively in English (orally and in writing). + Basic computer and office equipment experience. + Human relations skills sufficient to deal with all aspects of the licensing process. + May need to work regularly scheduled weekend hours. + Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities. **Preferred Qualifications** + Face to face customer service experience in a business with high volume customer traffic within the last five years. + Cash handling experience sufficient to accept applications and fees from customers and accurately complete financial transactions. + Knowledge of basic driving and motor vehicle laws. + Ability to problem solve, prioritize and manage a wide variety of duties while working independently. + Foreign language skills. + Ability to write legibly sufficient to produce completed forms and documents that can be easily read by others. + Excellent attendance and dependability. + Ability to engage customers, provide clear instructions, answer questions and provide both positive and negative feedback in a professional manner. + Five (5) years of driving experience with a good driving record. + First perceives a forced whispered voice in the better ear at not less than 5 feet with or without the use of a hearing aid. **Physical Requirements** + Employee must be able to communicate effectively with others and understand information clearly and have a minimum visual acuity of 20/40, corrected or uncorrected, and a visual field greater than or equal to 105 degrees. + Average to above average reflexes are required. + Must be able to maintain a stationary position for long periods of time. + Must be able to position self and move many times per day into and out of all sizes of motor vehicles. + Must be able to transport 25 pounds. + Must be able to maintain a professional demeanor and handle the stress associated with continuous public contact. **Additional Requirements** This position requires successful completion of the following: It is the policy of the Department of Public Safety that all employees submit to a background investigation prior to employment, includes the following components: + Criminal history + Reference check + Fingerprinting check (EDL) + Credit check + Driver’s license check + US citizenship check AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER Minnesota State Colleges and Universities is an Equal Opportunity employer/educator committed to the principles of diversity.
