Ziegler CAT has an opening for a Lead Technician who has a main responsibility of diagnosing and repairing Ag equipment with an emphasis in assisting other Technicians when it comes to the areas of safety/cleanliness and leading the team on complex repairs. The Lead Technician will also assist the Supervisor/Manager when it comes to mentoring new hires, including interns and with administrative duties when needed. Responsibilities: Diagnose and repair equipment in the shop Assist Technicians on the shop floor when needed Lead big or complex repairs Answer questions from other Technicians and assist with problem solving Bring up ideas for continuous improvement in the shop and assist with new projects when they come up Communicates with Service Supervisor/Manager regarding productivity and issues Advises customers on course of action in repairs: communication before, during, and after the repair when the Supervisor is absent/unavailable Assists and supports the Supervisor throughout the day and/or when the Supervisor is absent with customer interactions and administrative duties (for example- opening work orders, answer customer phone calls) Safety: Commits to wearing mandatory PPE at all times Maintains a clean and safe work area as well as follows and adheres to all safety policies and practices (5 Star contamination control) Conducts safety audits LO/TO, JHA's, etc Assist supervisor with assuring all safety standards are being met and provide training or guidance as needed Mentoring: Provides assistance to all levels of technicians at the branch Mentors new employees, including interns, on hazard identification and safe working practices Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED; 2-Year technical degree in diesel mechanics or related field is preferred Personal Attributes: Attention to Detail, Efficiency, Integrity, Problem Solving, Teamwork, Strong Communication Strong commitment to demonstrating the 8 habits of the Ziegler Way Minimum Physical Requirements: Push/pull up to 50 lbs Lift/carry up to 60 lbs Lift bulky objects Standing, walking, using hands, talking, hearing, neck rotation, trunk rotation, stair climbing, ladder climbing, repetitive bending, kneeling, sustained squat, forward reaching, overhead reaching, supine overhead reaching, crawling, bin lift, high steps, fingering/grasping - able to use bolt box. Working Conditions may be indoor and/or outdoor. Noise level may be loud at times.
