As a Therapeutic Foster Care Coordinator you will recruit therapeutic foster home families through presentations, networking, relationship building and collaboration with families, community partners, congregations, LSS and other stakeholders. You will take the families through the licensing/re-licensing process, conduct comprehensive home studies to assess safety, stable home environment and fit for the child, consult with clinicians and make recommendations for licensure to the state. You will complete the initial intake meeting and discuss the report with the parent/team. In this role you will provide education, supervision and ongoing support to the therapeutic foster home parents to ensure their successful licensing as well as their continuing understanding and compliance with the level of support required for a therapeutic environment. You will respond to crisis situations, connect the parents to related supportive services and complete monthly paperwork related to placement documentation, billing and reimbursement forms and availability/vacancy reports. You will also develop and maintain working relationships and communications with partners, referral sources, churches, county departments and other community organizations/stakeholders to recruit homes, garner referrals, promote the program and gather community support. Job Requirements: A Bachelor's degree in social or human services or comparable experience; a graduate degree and licensure is desired. Two to three years of working with at-risk children and youth with significant mental health needs; understanding of children's mental health conditions, diagnoses and treatment options. A valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, access to reliable transportation and a Motor Vehicle Check. Basic computer and phone skills. Effective oral and written communication and strong listening skills. Ability to take initiative and resolve problems independently. Strong interest in multi-culturalism; understanding of diversity and a variety of backgrounds. Knowledge of practices, policies, and procedures related to out of home placement and permanency solutions. Knowledge of practices, procedures, and policies for licensing and working with MN DHS is desired. Familiarity with foster care requirements is desired. Ability to represent and market LSS in all communities in an effort to recruit homes, garner referrals, promote and expand interest and build positive relationships.
